Euregio’s Council of Municipalities
During the Euregio Day of Municipalities on 30 September 2021, a new Euregio Council of Municipalities was constituted: This comprises five members each from Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino as well as a representative of the Old Tyrolean municipalities of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Col and Livinallongo/ Buchenstein. The Old Tyrolean municipalities were annexed to the province of Belluno in 1923 as part of the division of the Ladin administrative territory from Italy.
The first meeting of the Euregio Council of Municipalities took place on 31 May 2022 in Trento at Buonconsiglio Castle. Here the first chairpersons were elected: Paride Gianmoena, Mayor of Ville di Fiemme, as President, assisted by Michela Noletti, Mayor of Rumo, as Vice-President.
The second meeting of the Euregio Council of Municipalities took place in Cavalese (Trentino) on 21 July 2023. The Euregio Municipalities Day was also held on the same day.
The current President of the Euregio Council of Municipalities is Andreas Schatzer, mayor of Varna/ Vahrn (South Tyrol).
What does the Euregio Council of Municipalities do?
The primary task of the Euregio Council of Municipalities is to advise the three provincial governors in all matters of the Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino which concern the sphere of action of the municipalities or have special effects on them.
The advisory task of the Euregio Council of Municipalities is carried out by means of resolutions.
